You Can Spend the Night in This Christmas-trimmed Castle Near NYC — and Santa Will Deliver Gifts to Your Suite

The North Shore of Long Island has long been known for its opulent homes, earning it the nickname “The Gold Coast.” Its shining example is Huntington’s Oheka Castle, a landmark estate just an hour from New York City that functions as hotel, restaurant, and venue space.

Leaning into its majestic charm, Oheka Castle has transformed its lively estate into a holiday wonderland this December. The castle is paying tribute to its original owner, Otto Hermann Kahn, a century later with the debut of its “A Very Kahn Christmas” hotel package. To experience the festively decked halls up close, guests are able to book a lavish, Christmas-themed getaway through the month of December for $1,995.

The overnight castle stay takes place in the Fairbanks Suite, a sprawling space that has been bedazzled in the holiday spirit. The decor draws inspiration from the iconic Home Alone series, with three Christmas trees, a fireplace adorned with stockings, and poinsettias galore. Underneath the tree, a gift to the guests: A commemorative Oheka Christmas tree ornament. Also included in the package is a handcrafted Christmas cookie platter by Oheka’s pastry chef, Daniel Andreotti, served with a carafe of milk or hot chocolate. Guests also have the option to have Santa Claus himself hand-deliver presents right to the suite.

Rounding out the experience is a step into Oheka’s dining scene. “A Very Kahn Christmas” is inclusive of a special three-course holiday tasting menu for two in the castle’s flagship restaurant, OHK. Dishes include tempura fried shrimp, short rib pappardelle, and pan roasted duck. In the morning, enjoy hot coffee and breakfast in the castle’s ballroom.

Aside from its infectious Christmas spirit, the French-style castle is also famed for its rich history and title as the second-largest private residence built in North America. Today, Oheka Castle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as the backdrop for countless Hollywood movies, music videos, and celebrity weddings. The Castle is also a member of Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide with 34 elegant guest rooms and suites on the upper floors of the estate. Those who are just visiting for the day can enjoy a meal at OHK and a tour of the storied grounds.
