Inside Barcelona’s Largest Hotel Suite — With Butler Service and Stunning City Views

For perhaps the most majestic suite in Barcelona, look no further than the hotel with “majestic” in its name.

The Majestic Hotel & Spa, a stately icon with more than 100 years of history, is situated in the heart of luxurious Passeig de Gràcia. It also happens to be home to the largest hotel suite in the city. Measuring 467 square meters (approximately 5,000 square feet), the Majestic Royal Penthouse provides wiggle room and indulgence on a level seldom seen anywhere.

As for the history of the penthouse, according to Pascal Billard, general manager of the Majestic Hotel & Spa, it’s a very special place for the hotel’s owners, Olegario Soldevila and Sisita Casals.

“The suite is located in what was the home of the hotel owners. When they got married and became independent, they decided to give the then free space of their home to the hotel,” Billard tells Travel + Leisure. “They then made — on this ninth floor — the most exclusive suite of the entire building.”

Today, the Majestic Royal Penthouse boasts interiors by Italian designers Flexform and Molteni&C, as well as renowned Dutch brand Van Thiel & Co. When it comes to the layout, there’s a formal dining room, a living room, three bedrooms, a luggage storage room, and two outdoor terraces with panoramic city and skyline views, including of the Sagrada Familia, as well as sleek white whirlpools. There are eight Bang & Olufsen televisions throughout the suite and an attached prep kitchen for concocting meals at requested times.

Inside, you’ll also find a fully stocked “Maxibar,” with local and international snacks based on guest preferences. And for anything in between, there’s a helping hand. Billard says, “There are no limits in the services we offer at the Majestic Royal Penthouse, and for this we have a butler 24 hours a day to get you what you need, when you need it.” It’s worth noting the penthouse comes with round-the-clock luxury chauffeur service, too.

Beyond the penthouse, the Majestic Hotel & Spa has plenty to keep guests feeling pampered. Its 10th floor terrace restaurant, La Dolce Vitae, has high-end tapas and a must-have XXL wafer sandwich stuffed with Ferrero Rocher ice cream and Nutella. Down the hall, the recently enhanced Majestic Spa offers personalized treatments and a new hydrotherapy area for the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi crowd. The on-site restaurant, Solc, pays homage to Catalan cuisine with a farm-to-table focus and, on weekends, its garden-surrounded confines are morphed into a Moet-flowing brunch utopia with a multicourse menu and dessert buffet.

Also available to hotel guests — and a nice penthouse complement — are the property’s bookable signature experiences. These include private tours and meals at “Remarkable Residences” like Casa Rocamora (home of painter, writer, and quirky art collector Manuel Rocamora Vidal), or a “Made in Barcelona” experience in which expert guides dive deep into the most unique shops in town such as beloved animal figurine creator Ornamante and the largest stationery store in Europe, Raima.
